I am a Flavorist. Creating a perfect flavor is an artistic expression that reveals a time, a place, or an emotion. Using my highly cultivated nose and palate, I blend botanical terpenes, ketones, and esters – the building blocks of scent and taste – into harmonic profiles that move people. From simple and punchy to complex, layered experiences, my passion drives me to elevate products to a superior level of taste and customer experience.

 

MY PRODUCTS:
My all-natural products are fully FEMA GRAS certified (food safe), non-diluted, botanical-based terpenes, and flavors for inhalants and edibles. They are formulated by me in customer-specific batches and tested to ensure consistent flavor profiles and exceptional customer experiences. Available in standard strain-specific profiles, enhanced strain-specific profiles, and fruit and dessert profiles in small to large quantities.

MY STORY:

In my mid-teens, I noticed something was up with my sense of smell. The world around me was bursting with complex, layered scents and tastes and I had this urge to dissect, categorize, and rebuild them. Culinary school helped me focus my nose and palate, surprising my instructors with my ability. They demanded, “Do something with your nose!” But what does one do with an exceptional nose? I had to figure it out for myself.

The idea of transitioning from a chef to a Flavorist began when I realized that flavoring was an art and I had a gift for it. My nose allowed me to express myself and move people to a time, place, or emotion through taste and scent. I launched my first company, artistically blending botanical terpenes, ketones, and esters – the building blocks of scent and taste – into harmonic flavor profiles for cannabis products. Soon, my work was getting some “Hey, I got a killer flavor guy” attention and I began flavoring candy and drinks, formulating fragrances for body and beauty products, and growing my number of clients.

Today, my clients tell me I am the best-kept secret behind their brands. I’m fortunate to have found an industry where I can practice my art every day, crafting superior flavored products for my clients and their customers. What can I flavor for you?

Identity

Cerebral, artistic, architectural, and luxury/high-end, the OCTA logo was constructed to deliver the core elements of the brand. It is a simple, authoritative form layered with multiple warm tones to imply a unity of flavor and art. The rich, bold primary orange colorway adds warmth, approachability, and fruitiness to the identity while secondary colorways are used to designate categories of products. Helvetica Neue was chosen for its near-universal familiarity, legibility, and adaptability. The summary intent was to create a quick-to-identify profile packaging difference in a marketing, lab, or manufacturing setting.

Each category name, messaging, and distinct colorway was carried throughout the customer experience from package design to e-commerce display to marketing collateral.

Packaging

We built 50+ products across three product categories. The request was made for the label copy to be easily edited by the client and the artwork self-printed. We designed a template system with locked elements to maintain brand consistency while providing copy editing flexibility. Solid colors were used for clear profile designation in a manufacturing environment as well as for utility, consistency, and budget-friendliness in a self-printing application. All packaging and messaging underwent stringent revisions to ensure compliance with local and state law.

The company needed a very quick turnaround to launch its first e-commerce site in time for a large industry trade show. We designed version one as a streamlined product site to unveil its rebranding and help its B2B customers make informed, quick purchases. Version two is currently in development to enhance the customer experience and increase SEO.
