Sister Cities International fosters global partnerships between communities across continents. Working in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, SCI created the African Urban Poverty Alleviation Program (AUPAP). Figure was asked to document the first community partnerships to receive the grants – Boulder, CO – Kisumu, Kenya and Ft Worth, TX – Mbabane, Swaziland.
Creative
Over the course of two years we documented the progress of both of these community partnerships, from their official grant awarding to the completion of their projects. Filming both in the U.S. and Africa we used multiple cameras and on-camera interviews to capture the collaborative spirit of these groups.
